Thema: Two questions about neutral gear Do 3 Nov - 14:05
Hello, I have two questions: 1) In real life, did BVG drivers always put older buses (such as SD77) in neutral gear at stops and traffic lights? 2) When I put the bus in neutral gear, is some kind of brake applied? (I don't see changes in air pressure indicators)

1. I don`t think so.
2. It is not a brake, its just that you will not be able to gas, just brake

1. Ok, thanks. 2. umh... obvious? I mean: when for example I start a serivce on Grundorf map from Bauhernof, there's a downhill section. if the traffic light is red, I stop, put the bus in neutral, release brakes and it doesn't move even if it's on a downhill road (without accelerating obviously) and some guy named Newton said that there's a force called Gravity.

You do not put automatic buses in neutral except when you have a break and turn off the engine.

To answer the second one: In neutral gear, no brake is applied. And if you stop the bus on a downhill slope in neutral and release the brakes, the bus does start moving of course.

Additionally, I should add that older automatic transmissions will not neutralise at stop. Voith DIWA.2 gearboxes and newer will automtically neutralise when you have your foot on the brake pedal and [D] is selected on the buttons. With earlier gearboxes, it is often necessary to select [N] for smoother engine operation (for the passengers' sake) and to conserve fuel during long periods of idle.
