Thema: Dashboard controls & animation So 6 Feb - 12:11
Hey guys,
Congratulations on the completion of OMSI! I think everyone is really really excited about the future of this sim and the awesome experience it will offer. With the possible exception of some very high end training simulators you have probably come closer than any software company to simulating the driving experience of a heavy vehicle. I can't thank you enough for the time and effort that has gone into this program. To offer it to the average user working on today's PC systems is outstanding.
I can't wait to start building content for it as it seems like a great platform to work on.
I had a question about some of the dashboard controls...I have seen in the videos, when starting the bus, you can manipulate the ignition key with the mouse. For instance to turn on the ignition you push the key in, or turn for the lights (consistent with Mercedes-Benz and MAN vehicles...again amazing attention to detail!) But I have always seen the transmission and parking brake controlled with the keyboard.
I was wondering if you can manipulate these controls with the mouse? In addition, with the parking brake valve, in real life you need to pull the handle out and up to release. I'm not expecting this to be the case in the current OMSI busses but is it possible to script controls to work like this in the future?
Cheers,
James.

The special functions (pull handle) are also possible with OMSIs script engine. But we made it a little bit easier for the first time: you just have to rotate the handle of the parking brake.
But - of course - you can switch nearly all switches with the mouse, too! (very few not, e.g. the blinker switch... it will be only animated but has to be switched with the keyboard. But you COULD include also a mouse handling there if you would like...)

very cool! thanks for the reply. It's great that the script engine is built for future improvement and mods.

Marcel, I have yet another question..
For example, on my steering wheel, I want to assign, the retarder switch on SD202 to button 1, wiper switch to button 2 etc... Can it be done, or I have to use the mouse? I am specifically interested in assigning retarder function.

Marcel I have a question, I know the manual will be available but on the maps, there is numbers under the IBIS Route section, the map that shows the route on a street level, also on the destination map showing the 39 stops, what are the numbers for listed IBIS Route section and the other map?
Thanks very much!

I don't understand your question...? You want to know the sense of the IBIS Route Numbers? They are to program which route you want to drive! E.g. 1: Freudstr. => Stadtgrenze or 4: Reimerweg => Freudstr.

Ok let me try again.......
http://www.omnibussimulator.de/screenshot/110203/Strassenkarte.pdf where it says Linie, Strecke, IBIS Route, what do those numbers mean is all? Its a very humble question. Im not slating the game in any shape or form, if anything else comes across like that I wont post on here anymore.

Numbers under all stops will be other lines which stops on each bus stop.
And IBIS-Route numbers on map will be number which will be enter to IBIS as "Ziel" (Terminal Bus stop).
If I write a mistake, Marcel or Rüdiger will correct me.

Numbers UNDER the red dots are crossing (or parallel) lines, numbers ON the red dots are driving time from start in minutes.
IBIS-Numbers are NOT for "Ziel" (terminus) but for "Route", that means you can set the route for IBIS, because it needs the list of stations you will have on your line.

So am i right in thinking one way journey time is 39 minutes?
If so that is just amazing I was expecting around 15 minutes one way with this level of detail!

Good Evening,
Does the odometer work? and has the ability to check how much did we already travelled since the day we buy the simulator, that would be highly interesting to check a couple of month afterwards...
Best Regards
