Beginning to use map editor

Hello i am wondering firstly how to start the route/map editor and some tips/hints to begin with? I can't use the berlin map so i want to make some more routes on the grundorf map.

1:If there is a easy way to move with map editor,i kinda cant move and zoom with the mouse and middle mouse button =/
2:How do splines and stuff work? I am totally confused as to how to start a new route.
3:Saving and loading a route,and how to put it so i can play it in game?
