Connecting roads

Hi, I've looked through the manual to see how to connect splines, yet when i actually do it the editor just comes up with errors. Can someone please explain how to connect splines?
Heres a screenshot of one of the errors.

The problem is that the road would have to perform an "S-curve" to connect the roads, this is not possible.
You have to build one of the two curves from one side, so that the editor only has to complete the road either to the left or to the right.
