Good morning, friends! I would like to share my map project with you
-- Update -- Demo video of line 99:
-- Update -- May 5th, 2011 I'm adding some screenshots of Tropical City. A Release Candidate version will be released until May 15th. Probably it will be ready before May 10th, for testing purposes. After a lot of high quality maps being released since I started working on this map, I feel a little bit insecure about releasing it and maybe not being enough to satisfy you, but I'll be welcome to all your criticism to improve it.
Here is a simple map which shows the roads in the map. There are some hills on it: (2.77 MB) Since it's a in-game screenshot, some ground textures (such as sand and some farm textures) doesn't display correctly. It's just for your reference.
I tried to create a simple airport using some OMSI objects. I hope to improve it on a new release:
Here are the liveries used by the fleet that operates in Tropical City (D92 and SD85):
Tickets (OMSI will also show the ticket names in German and English):
There will be 8 routes + 2 variants:
10,20,30 : Circular routes E1,E2 : School buses 70 : Rural route 99, 99E, 99N : Regular, Express and Night routes for 99 (Boavista x Aeroporto) 5 : Touristic route (Forest Park)
There are simplified 727 and Mi8 AI traffic which fly around Tropical City.
The next version of Tropical City will feature a Downtown. So, maybe 2 or 3 lines may be added. I'm still testing if all routes are working properly. I hope you like it.
Tropical City is a fictional map surrounded by coast and mountainous areas. It will feature these neighborhoods:
- Coast area called Boavista (including a small beach called Praia da Boavista) - 90% - Bairro Alto (the second area that appears in the video) - 70% These areas appear in the video but they will be heavily modified:
- Colônia -- (it will be mostly residential with some european village touch, but with more houses than buildings.) - (To do) - Tropical University Campus (is the educational centre of Tropical City. (Schools and Kindergartens also compose this scenery). - 30% - Rural Area - after the Bus Depot, there will be a rural area. (To do)
Not available in this video: - Industrial District (CANCELLED, it was replaced with a Forest Park) - Downtown (To do)
More information will be added soon. Thank you!

Hi
This map looks really nice, in a way it reminds my of a mini version of Cape Town, South Africa - A tour bus on your route may be a nice idea
One problem I think is that you have too many AI buses driving around - This could cause issues for some users because it may lower their FPS The airport is a great idea, now I want to see a cablecar going up one of those mountains
Keep up the good work

Hey Freeman! Thanks for your comment. The comment about the AI buses is a very good point. I didn't have time to work on the traffic rules yet (defining traffic density etc.) but I hope to fix it to the next video preview For example, there are lots of people and cars in the State Park area, this is the first thing I'll be fixing. And yes, there will be a tour bus route
Many thanks m8!

Sounds good, I was going to try and find this topic the other day and ask how progress was going! Looking forward to have a go on it - with the sunset on a nice warm day
Dont worry that its not good enough, because from the videos it looks very good and better than many maps on my map list.

Hey Thiago, this looks like a very special nice map ... and maybe the first to include an airport!
Look forward to it.

Many thanks guys! The school bus route is just like a regular OMSI line, but with some specific stops at educational centres (such as Universities, Schools, Hospitals)

Good evening. I recorded a demo video of route 99, which shows the main environment for the city. The video is long, but there is no need to see it completely (unless you want to ). But if you see some small parts you'll get well how the project is going. I'm now working on some bugs and terrain fixes. I hope you like it.

Hey Thiago,
Two things;
1). The map looks FANTASTIC! ... you gave it the perfect name, because it look so tropical. Can't wait to drive this one.
2). Do you have a 'sound mod' installed for the engine in that bus? ...and if so could you link to it please? .... the bus sounded smoother and more like a modern bus.
Cheers, David.

Very nice! - I also can't wait to drive this route....
My favourite bits are around 24.45 when you are driving parallel to the coast - it reminds my of many holidays
And of course, the airport area is nice too
Keep it up

Thanks, David! I'm very glad you liked it! Oh, these are some sounds from a Mercedes-Benz Citaro O530 I tried to insert on OMSI. I started doing it and then I left as is. I will send you the link by Private Message because these sounds are from a Youtube video, and I didn't get any response from the author. **Edit: Sent!

Thanks, Freeman! That area is one of my favourites too! It reminds me some trips I made to Angra dos Reis, a city here in Brazil. There are some roads parallel to the coast (bigger), but I tried to catch the inspiration from it. Here is one great moment of this road:
Hope you enjoy it.
