accept a latching switch input?

not sure if this is the right section,

i am making a basic simulator desk, and have a few buttons that i use to control omsi functions, i.e. door open and close, engine start/stop etc,

i have a rotary switch that latches on when turned, and this i use for the bus stop brake/door release button,
unfortunately omsi is expecting a push and release type input, so the button works first time, i.e. turn the real button on, and the brake/door release operates, but to turn the brake/door release off, i have to turn the real switch off and back on,

is there a way to get omsi to accept a latching input? so that when the switch is on, the brake/door release button in omsi os on, when the switch is off, the brake/door release turns off,

i'd also like to do the same with the electric's button, i have a key switch, but again it latches on and off,
