This is an idea, inspired by the driving school map, what do you think?

Interesting idea, but I think only for off-road style maps or in countries with very bad/no proper roads.

No, Ford is correct. Big puddle in the road basically.

And they exist in Britain, so it's not just limited to countries with poor roads.

Certainly do and they are quite often pretty rough- cocncrete, cobbles etc.
Saying that don't know if any UK routes go through one- Imagine some do.
Think there was a pic of a bus going through one in a bus book I have.

There's a minibus service that operates in the North East; Morpeth - Rothbury (both in Nothumberland) that operates a scheduled service through a Ford ...but saying that, the road rarely has little more than an inch of water over it. But it can get up to a foot of water.
