Its not that bad of a sound, nor is it great, but my issue is that it makes no real noise apart from the hiss when opening the doors and then makes the grinding noise when shutting it. Because the metal actually goes along the top bar twice, surely the noise of the grind should be heard twice?

It's a pretty good sound, I quite like it.
My only constructive feedback would be that as exactly the same sound is being used for both doors (ie... mono rather than intertwined), if you operate both doors together, you get a nasty phasing* sound.
*An artifact where two versions of the same sound play too closely together, causing an effect where it sounds like one version of the sound, with a delay applied.
Other than that, I like it
