Thema: omsi.exe memory error at 00402AB3 So 20 Feb - 17:18
Hi Everyone,
While playing OMSI i noticed that there are sometimes memory violations at different addresses while driving, i think it involves the traffic AI because after i get an error cars begin to run into my bus or some other random strange thing in front of me.
an example of such an error is: "Zugriffsverletzung bei adresse 00402AB3 in modul 'omsi.exe'. Schreiben von adresse 00000000". The errors differ but they always try to write "00000000".
Does anyone else get these error messages... perhaps this is a bug?

So when clicking he message away, OMSI continues to run but the AI doesn't react to your bus anymore? This might indeed be some kind of bug.
Could you please state exactly, what other strange things the AI cars start to do after that error message? Thanks!

OK, i did a quick test run, here are the results:
- Started OMSI - Loading map: Berlin-Spandau, without buses - Adding new bus: MAN SD202-D92 number 3928 @ spandau-Freudstr. - Setting timetable: line 92, Tour 1, Trip start 9:"25 from spandau-Freudstr. - Preparing b us for departure (setting IBIS) - After 1st busstop crasht into car that did not wait for me to pass and went left 1 cm. before my eyes - Memory violation at address 00402AB3, trying to write 00000000.
Getting errors every second. Happend after pessangers boarded @ siegener str. and started driving again. (11 min. to late. 1 bus behind me and some traffic, bus is line 5). After 7 error messages i saw that the other bus did not move, only after i drove 10 meters away from it it began to drive again. After that i get batches of 5+ errors every 5 seconds or so, so 5 seconds nothing.. then a couple of errors and then 5 seconds nothing. I thought it was caused by traffic riding beside me but that is not the case, i then thought it was something with that intersection, because after i drove away from the intersection i got no errors.. and after a while when i got to the next one i got them back. The game gets unplayable so i stopt, going to try it once more.
AI traffic settings: Max traffic: 150 Parked cars: 23% max Pedestrians: 1000 Pessengers: 200% Priority: 3
If i drive without a timetable there are no errors on this route, not even if i crash into another vehicle because i did not see it. There was one error on the roundabout though, perhaps it has something to do with the AI traffic, because everytime i get these errors all the AI cars are lined up weird.
Is there a debug option somewhere?, so i can yoy log files?

I got a Memory Violation once, when I selected a Timetable. But it was the only error I got until now. I would suggest you decrease the size Max. Texture Memory under the Options menu, and try to check (increase, if needed) your system's virtual memory. It's just a suggestion, I don't have a clue about that. In other games I used to have Memory Violation errors and I solved most of them by increasing virtual memory.

Hmm, still not sure what might cause that problem...but can you try again with less pedestrians? Try setting them to about 200 and set the passenger factor to 100%. Maybe these errors are caused by some kind of overload.
The traffic in the roundabout looks normal to me, I don't see the weird lineup. (The yellow car won't pass in this configuration).

I set everything at the lowest setting, but still nog able to start that map. I get the following during the load process of the map. When trying to load without busses.
This happens when it is loading the terrain most of the time.
Now the short map Grundorf works great no errors or problems what so ever, but the Berlin-Spandau map can not be played, it's loading and when it is almost done loading up it hangs and come up with that error, and when i try to load up with using a last situation it comes up with this

Tried that already, but had no effect.

Perhaps you are using old drivers or the wrong directX version. Could you try to install latest direct-X 9.0C from: This website
Perhaps you have a user rights issue... that message says the game cannot load the file... can you check if that file exsists on your PC, and if your user account has full rights on the entire game directory?

Already tried it all, installed the newest directx, updated all my drivers to the latest, game folder has complete and write permissions, I run it as admin with fulll rights. Like i said the strange thing is that the short map works great, it's just the other doesn't

That's odd! It seems that the problem is within the Berlin map folder. Isn't your OMSI install file corrupted? I would try to download it again. I understand that if the install was corrupted, some error message would probably appear during setup, but It's something to try. Even when I started the game for the first time when I bought it, I could load "last situation" without getting any errors.

@Rüdiger Hülsmann My problems seem to bee gone after setting the pedestrian numbers down, could you perhaps explain what these 2 options are for exactly?

Ah, very glad to hear that!
The slider "humans max count" controls the maximum number of pedestrians and passengers that can be visible at a time. As with every AI, the humans need a lot of performance, so setting the max count to 200 is a good value. When exaggerated, strange problems may happen on some (not all) machines.
The second slider labeled "Factor passengers at stations" needs some more explaining: An OMSI busstop is internally set up to create a certain amount of people waiting there. So for instance, the number of waiting passengers at a given bus stop is 10. This value is then multiplied with the factor in the options menu. So if you have it set to 200%, then there'll be 20 people waiting at that particular stop. Set it to 50% and only 5 people will wait there.

@Rüdiger Hülsmann Oh dear... the errors are back again, i did not change anything. It worked for 1 trip and then on the return i received multiple memory violations like before.

I only get the "earthquake" effect as soon as I hit something... and I am rather annoyed (I managed a rather good stroll from Reimerweg till Klosterstr. >> http://wklej.org/id/480049/ ).

Wait...the AI cars start to bounce although you haven't hit them??
We have never encountered such a problem. Could you please turn off vehicle collisions for a try and tell us if the problem still happens? Thank you!

OK... Here's the full story - or my full story. Heerstrasse, Blasewitzer Ring and everything else till Klosterstrasse - OK. I sometimes hit a parked car but otherwise OK. Klosterstrasse. I hit a light pole and I keep on carrying it on the roof. Then I misdrive and hit the bus stop pole (the one with lines on it). I take the passengers but when I try to go on, the bus starts to jump up and down like a 7-year-old kid on a bouncy bed. And then I hit a truck, the next second I hit a car and I can count all of these things. Now, because of the jumps the bus decided to make like a kid, I couldn't set the warning lights using the dashboard (and I forgot the key on the keyboard) and I couldn't call the police to clean the scene. And then I saved the timetable and shut down OMSI. I also got some sort of a hit at Reimerweg and it took 11 mins to clean it - and another hit at Heerstr. x Sandstr. - another 8 mins. As well as that, the bus starts to jump up and down on a flat road, nothing hit, and makes my Goddamn passengers complain... (and they paid for that ). Once again, my misfortunate run's timetable: http://wklej.org/id/480049/
EDIT: I'll do that tomorrow. Thanks for the advice.

Main problem: You hit too many things before! And when your bus bounces, you have a too low framerate, so you should increase it in recuding the options! (reducing ai traffic helps much!)

In another thread I still get the blank screen after running through U Rathaus Spandau, it doesn't crash the game just the video driver, If i save and reload i loose the AI buses ahead or behind me at the terminus which spoils the flow of things, or if i play and not get a blank screen it'll happen and Heerstr on the return journey to Freudstr.
It's quite annoying, i've updated my GFX card driver which is a GeForce 9500 GT and rebooted the machine so i'll see what happens and then report back. I think lowering the AI cars parked will also help as well.
Apart from that no other bug, i did get the memory overload at U Rathaus Spandau, its Spandau where most problems occur, i.e. low frame rates, an error when the AI cars get too close to the bus. I think the memory handling could increase from 200 MB to 1GB in the option above the low-res textures.
Once the english manual is available I'm sure it'll explain the GFX Settings

what means this shitty ERROR.. I got it sometimes and it is annoying cause you must leave game and your route and that sucks, but even if you want to resume it it loads ok and again for few minutes that massage so only option is to start new route My framerates are 20-35 on Berlin route and 50-60 on Tutorial map but I get only on Berline map this massage (sometimes, not every time) PS: I start my game as an admin everytime so that is not problem!!
