Thema: Weymouth (hopefully)*UPDATE* 11/8/11 Do 19 Mai - 19:49
Hi all, Loving the work that's going on around here, all the maps, and even some new buses! I figured that I would have a go at making my home town of Weymouth, a popular holiday resort. I'm guessing this will be a challenge, but I'm gonna go for it, with the help of the Map Editor SDK, of course! Here is the map of the Weymouth Network: http://www.firstgroup.com/ukbus/southwest/dorset/map/Weymouth_Network.pdf I will, hopefully, be releasing the map in stages, starting with the 3 Hereford Road, then branching out. Unfortunatly, I probably won't be able to do the WHOLE network (X53 defiantly not!) but I'll do my best.
If there is any reason why this would be a bad idea, please tell me before I dedicate my whole life to this!
*UPDATE* Hello again! Great news! The roads are done ! The whole of the number 3's roads have been implamented (to the best of my abilities!). I am currently doing the terrain, which let me tell you, is a pain in the bottom, trying to get it to match the best I can. I have opened a site for the route weymouthomsi.moonfruit.com where you will eventually be able to download it, and you can also check out some pictures (coming soon!) If anyone wants to try out the map early, then sign up for the beta! Very happy now, as it's been a while since I have worked on it, and suddenly thought I would spend 2 solid days getting it done. Anyway, I'll let you get back to the busy world of bus driving! And just to let you know, all updates will now be made on the site (except for the release on forum)
Thanks for reading, and applogies if in the wrong place (I'm new member, but avid reader) Harry

Good morning, Harry. And welcome!
The more maps, the merrier! And it's even better because it's a Real Map. I saw some photos of your homeland, and I think it's very worthy to have it created for OMSI. Besides that, I like Stagecoach and First liveries very much! Map SDK is handy and it explains well. However, I recommend you to always make a backup of your map folder. This can avoid some headache in case of OMSI Editor bugs.
And: Before you start creating roads, I suggest reading the section about Ground layers. The order of the ground textures you will use (e.g. grass, asphalt, sand) can make your work a little bit easier when painting the terrain.
I wish you good luck! :_) Thiago

Would love to see the 501 to Portland Bill. Have memories as a kid when on a family holiday in Weymouth of getting the bus to Portland Bill crossing the Chesil Bank

Would love to be able to make that, and hopefully, after the number 1 is implemented, I can. I go on it every year. Starting work tonight, looking foward to it!

Please do do the X53 - it is not too hard to make a long route (I am making a fictitious one that is currently about 40 miles long) just do not worry about road detail, so long as it's the right style of road and the right length (more or less) and make the villages as best you can. If you need any help PM me.

When you say "would it included all routes", I understand you want all those routes, if he would do them. Anyway saying please so many times like you did is not normal. You may say "New coffee, please" not "New coffee, please please give me new coffee please". Peoples here use that "please" without understand what it means. It is just friendly to say so ONCE when you want something. Other example: "Dont feed the animals, please". If you ever found sign where is "Dont feed the animals, please dont please" tell me. If you say please many times, it seems like you are desperate or something, and I dont thing you are.
And back to the topic: Map is not even finnised yet, and you are already making new route requests for it.
