LAZ 4202 [WIP]

So...another bus is on the way to OMSI !

LAZ-4202 is city bus, produced by L'vovskim Avtobusni Zavod (Lviv Bus Factory, Ukraine) from 1978 to 1983. Bus was equipped by KamAZ 740 diesel and Lviv-3 hydromechanical gearbox. Because bus was designed in big rush, he has many weak places - body was very fragile and maintance of gearbox and engine caused a lot of questions. Probably it's most unsuccessful bus, produced by LAZ. Successor of LAZ 4202 was LAZ 42021 with more strong body and mechanical gearbox. Only several LAZ4202 survived to our days.

So...here is the first steps. Because this bus is very rare, biggest problem - information searches (photo's, sounds, etc.)

By the way - is this "not-fully-pushed" door thing real? I'm asking because it's in the 677m and now again here.

Ughm...that's not маршрутка (marshrutka)...that's marshrutka...a minibus, which working on line and stopping on passenger requests. As you can see - our bus is much bigger.

Yep, that's again here...but honestly - real reason why we won't make a fully openable door is some script problems...we can make normal, fully openable doors but in opened position they will be looks too bad...

Engine is Kama3,V8? (I used to see V8Kama3 in trucks operated by "JGP" for cleaning and pipelines)

Well, my bad - in Poland anything that's run privately (and quickly and "millimeters from side mirrors of parked cars" as someone once said) in ex-USSR is considered a marshrutka. OK, I'll keep away from that name for the LAZ.

Нормально , а так думаю что маршрутку будет довольно интересно сделать, Газель то не подойдет по высоте, а вот Руту или чего нибудь такого.

RU: Мы в Польше маршрутки называем "бус" (латинское правописание: BUS). Я тоже ненавижу это говно и не хочу их видеть в OMSI.

Beautiful LAZ. Is it possible to make sounds as realistic as these from LiAZ 677M? Are you planning it?
EDIT: Извините, я не читал внимательно. Какие автобусы или грузовики могут имиеть тот же двигатель? Я могл бы записать звук для вас.

The small maps which have only 1-2 villages are now good to drive with these small busses, like the Liaz and this. The MANs were too big for that duty

Personally I like russian busses especially these small ones, so I'm a total fan of your work

Thanks. We are searching for good sound samples. Same engine was installed on some buses and KamAZ trucks

Actually this project is wasn't started. Just a small "warm-up" and searches of good base model for converting. But when author of this model will give us better model (as he promised 2 month ago) and manual gearbox script came out, we will try to finish this bus.

This is looking to be an amazing bus. Quick questions though, will it be repaintable roughly the same as your last bus or will it be different? second, those pictures of the girls, will they be alterable as well? Say have the route maps behind the driver(on the big picture)?

Either way, I love that the matrix only shows two lines. I cannot wait to add this to my maps fleet!

No, it will be repaintable by different way, because author of original model do not made unwrap for bus body. You can only change the colour of the body, front bumper, doors and wheels. Maybe we add body unwrap in patches

Okay, you can edit texture of all these these posters and change it on everything what you want

Thats not to bad, but will they be like the past one that can use the CTI files or like the past Addons that require a another install of the bus? Beyond that, looking forward to it!

Haha, don't get me wrong, they are great. But I'm sure there will be people who won't like them, or want to change them.

I'm excited to see that this is only a two door bus instead of the usual three door models, not that I have anything against the three doors, but the two doors are much more familiar to me.

Any wild/rough/ballpark idea of a release? like next few months, weeks, years? or will you be sticking with the good old, "Its done when its done"?

Of course, repaints will be avalible via CTI-files, like in LiAZ-677m - it's a standart for all our models.

I'm prefer "Its done when its done", because we have a huge problem with the engine sounds...we just can't catch any bus equipped by KamAZ-740 engine

Looks great Although I'd prefer the pictures removed and maybe the curtain because most countries do not decorate their buses with personal items. But still, at least you can change the textures.

The only thing I would say is that the destination displays need more work. Perhaps just have the number on the left and just one line which is the same size as the number. This method looks strange (although I assume this is what they look like in Russia) and also the writing is very blurry and stretched. I'd suggest making a new font with bigger & narrower letters if you decide to keep it like it is, because that will stop it looking blurred.
