Buses with Transmissions included within the package
-ZF Ecomat I 4HP-590 (First Generation and Second Generation on the SD83), 5HP-590 (SD86)
-ZF Ecomat II 5HP-592, 6HP-592 (On two different settings on SD89, SD92)
-ZF Ecolife AP1000
-ZF Ecolife AP1200
-ZF Ecolife AP1400

The consist value gives the option to specified to further define what kind of transmission you would want is not listed above. For example, a four-speed transmission of the Ecomat II, 4HP-592

Topodyn is incorporated on the Ecomat II/IV models

Actually it is the ZF4HP-500, our older Neoplans had the ZF 4HP-590, the only main difference is that the 4HP-590 accepts greater input torque then the 4hp-500.

Well interestedly enough, the only sounds I really need for this transmission on this Man chasis are the up and downshift sounds, and the retarder sounds, things such as the axle noises are native to that of an Man. It sounds much like the older Neoplans gear whine wise, however, the whine would continue on into the 3rd and 4th gear, it would not feather out by the end of the 2nd gear...

I do have plans on doing the Zf-5hp-592/4, these transmissions apparently has that "whump" sound at the end of the 2nd gear and continue through the 3rd with a 50-70% taper off in the 4rd gear.


The zf transmission is interesting to say the least, it can lock up in either the 1st and 2nd gear as witness by me, according to poweredbycng they actually lock/unlock in all of the rest of the gear ranges as well. I guess on the latest zfers it all depends on the shift programming,

I re-installed it and now it seems to be working. confused Either way great MOD.

It sounds wonderful - just like the Leyland Olympians with LRT here (like the 1988 E333MSG and co), all we need now is a Cummins L10 sound lol. Razz Or a Leyland TL11 sound to make it like a Leyland Lion =D. Keep up the good work and thank you ever so much!! Now I just love OMSI even more now that my favorite gearbox is there. Could you make this for D92 as well and combine this mod with the B10M sound for SD83? I would do it but I do not know which part of the script is engine sound and which is ZF sound!

Edit: Drove on a map with hills - seems kickdown does not work on some gears, or is this how it should be?

Well, I tried the kickdown yesterday for myself, and jup.. You're right. I experienced the same 'problem'.

@krtz07 Good job, well done. And btw, could you maybe create a gearbox that shifts a bit earlier to the 4th gear (and maybe with a shorter gearratio)? Smile

I have tried to put in the B10M sound to this mod to make it like some of the buses we have here (First Volvo Citybuses). I have tested the mod and it sounds great.

To me it seems kickdown is only working in 2nd gear. Wink

Just found something else. Sometimes when I've stopped and want to accelerate again, the gearbox stays in neutral. You have to 'play' with the throttle (or press N and D) to get the bus moving.

Just copy that and Paste it into the Sound SD83-ZF file overwriting the entire contents.

Just found something else. Sometimes when I've stopped and want to accelerate again, the gearbox stays in neutral. You have to 'play' with the throttle (or press N and D) to get the bus moving.
Thanks for you feedback!! The kickdown should be able to work in all of the gears, but I will reissue another version tonight or tomorrow with some updates made to the script - they should correct some of the kickdown issues.

The stop brake needs to be release first,then the bus will shift back into drive, the difference should be audible. that issue has been corrected as well...

Brixplatz has those hills and the hill at Neu Tramm in Danneburg map.

And a (maybe) a good idea for your all: Try to replace the original 'shift-sounds' (1749_12schalt01.wav and 1749_23schalt01.wav) and the retarder sounds with wav files with just a few seconds of silence. Wink Gives an amazing (sound) effect to this very good mod. Smile

That's why I have made the ZF sound file which is really just the original sound file but done it for future provisions.

Version 0.6 released
- No longer goes into neutral at standstill
- Lock up while in 2nd gear is more defined
- Change final drive ratio from 4.54 to 4.84 - top speed is now 88 km/h
- Started to rework the sounds, added upshift sound between 2nd and 3rd gear, it really was not needed, but wanted to learn how the sound scripting is done.
- Reworked the kickdown from 4th down into 3rd
- disabled the retarder via cockpit by default, it will be disabled until I rework the retarder side of the script, the voith retarder kicks in way too strong for a ZF.

Hi, I installed v0.6 update today. Now I get the following message



This only appers when I select the new bus icon, if I select a AI bus I can drive it without a problem.
Excellent mod otherwise! The SL200's here in Adelaide, AUS have 4hp500s and they sound fantastic!
