Changes:
* Further refinements to the kickdown response from 2nd to 1st gear

I'm now 99% happy with this mod as it stands. I use this exclusively on the Modern Day Spandau map along with the BVG 2002 respray and this combination makes for a relaxing drive without the need to be constantly on the kickdown. If anybody has any suggestions, please let me know.

I hope you enjoy this mod guys. After many hours of fine-tuning and experimentation, along with the assistance of krtz07, I have been able to calibrate the engine and gearbox so that you can drive in a relaxed manner even if given the tightest running times. With the D92 in BVG 2002 livery, this makes the perfect combination for the Modern Day Spandau map.

Changes:
* Fine-tuned upchange speeds (min/max/kickdown)
* Fine-tuned downchange speeds (min/max/kickdown)
* Eliminated problem of slipping gearbox when downchanging from 4th at 35-40km/h, now downchange from 4th to 3rd occurs at higher speed and auto-kickdown is also at a higher speed (i.e. more responsive)

I really like it, nice job! The only thing I would say is that 100km/h feels a bit too fast, and also the noises that the gearbox and engine make at that speed sound unhealthy and like it shouldn't be going that fast... perhaps 90km/h would be better? Smile
Nethertheless, I still like it. Only thing left now would be changing the engine sounds to the newer engine lmao Laughing

Have you ever heard the sound of a Mercedes-Benz O 405-series or MAN NL xx3 bus travelling at 100km/h? The axle and engine noises sound remarkably similar to how the D92 turbo sounds, surprisingly.

Also, you should not be travelling at any more than, say, 70km/h on most of the available maps unless you're a VERY skilled driver (and the police aren't looking your way!). In real life, the buses in OMSI have rather wooly handling at over 90km/h due to the way that their steering systems and suspensions are set up. Modern buses such as the Mercedes-Benz Citaro / OC 500-series overcome these problems and can drive safely at 100km/h or more without any 'wandering'.

Changes:
* Further refinements to the 4th to 3rd downchange speeds (previous version was downchanging too early)

Known issues:
* If you let the transmission change into 4th while travelling downhill, you will temporarily lose the use of your retarder if you try to slow down straight away (tested on Great_Grundorf map). Hopefully krtz07 can assist me with fixing this issue.
* Sometimes, if you hit the kickdown at low RPM, the gearbox will drop a gear or two and slip until the maximum speed of the gear that you're in is reached. This causes a delay in acceleration. Again, hopefully krtz07 can assist me with fixing this issue.

I'm glad that you like it.

Realism has always been my goal. I'm very much a perfectionist with this kind of thing and I won't settle for second-best.

You can look forward to further refinements in the future until I am completely satisfied taking into account the constraints of the simulator itself.

The ZF transmission is more difficult to simulate given the constraints of the game. I can easily record the sounds of the ZF gearbox, it's just a matter of scripting the behaviour of the gearbox so that the characteristics are replicated in the game.

I will leave it up for one of the developers to explain how the whole slippage in OMSI works. The 4th gear script is calibrated to that of the original engine under it's 190HP just as the rest of the script. That's why it was released with the original motor intact.

The retarder efficiency can be tweaked at retarder_stufe4, just open up excel or something to plot the graph.

Actually, it not that hard to script, I do have a script that simulates the lock up in first gear with the torque converter tied into the gear ratio multiplied by the final drive. But the trick is to script a "3rd gear" which is really 2C, which does not lock up. The 2C would prevent the engine from stalling out.

The ZF Ecomat transmission unlocks in every gear up to 4th. Unlocked 3rd and 4th are very short but you can feel that it's there.

Well my experiment with the retarder strength was an epic fail.

From my extensive testing, it seems that the retarder suffers from a phenomenon similar to what happens when you slow down in 1st gear from high engine speeds - the retarder efficiency is reduced throughout the entire gear and you don't hear the effects. The only difference is that in 1st gear, this is a normal phenomenon in real life whereas retarder strength in 4th gear on a real D8x4.3 is relatively linear, like in 2nd and 3rd gears.

Does anyone have any idea as to how I can solve this issue?

Made some edits to the sound file, to search Sound/sound_D92.cfg to see what is done, open up the file and do a find "Tweak This (KMO) ", This should get you to where you need to go, have fun tweaking it! First try it out as is, then tweak from there

Sound/sound_D92.cfg is the name of the file, you can rename it to whatever you prefer and link it to the .bus file

Retarder Strength does not equal to sound in OMSI. The values to define the strength are there but these are not dependent on the sound.

Well hmm, it all depends on how it is used, could be used to get or switch to the next or last gear, it really all depends. it is a variable and gets defined thoughout the script.

antrieb_getr_M_an apparently defines the torque though.. from looking at the script it is one of the end results of setting up the torque.
